The Shadow Over Innsmouth

                               The Shadow

                             Over Innsmouth

H.P. Lovecraft

"The Shadow Over Innsmouth" is a short novel about a weird hybrid race of humans and creatures resembling a cross between a fish and a frog, which lives in the seaside village of Innsmouth.

****************************************************************

Well this book was recommended, it wasn't really my thing but it was pretty interesting.

I like this kind of books about myths and stories, this one being from Lovecraft is a a little of both, since this book should enlighten a little more about the Cthulhu  followers or something among those lines.

The book was a very page turner I will admit that but it wasn't the best book in my opinion, I kind of love/hate the thing because I didn't really like it for me was a little bulky but for some reason I couldn't put it down.

I will try more of Lovecraft books maybe I went to far ahead and that could have been the thing bad about it, to explore a world made by a writer is always better to begin with the first's books and I don't really know if maybe they have some kind of sequence.

Now Lovecraft writing is a little over elaborate and maybe that can intimidate a little, but the myth about Cthulhu is very interesting to let that scare you or me.

So before you read this books I will recommend to try to find an order to this world before stepping in it or maybe you will get a little confused about it, but I encourage everyone to read this fantastic author.

La Sombra sobre Innsmouth

H.P. Lovecraft

****************************************************************

Cold Sight

                                      Cold Sight

Leslie Parrish

After being made a scapegoat in a botched investigation that led to a child's death, Aidan McConnell became a recluse. Still, as a favor to an old friend, Aidan will help on the occasional XI case. But under his handsome, rugged facade, he keeps his emotions in check--for fear of being burned again.

Reporter Lexie Nolan has a nose for news--and she believes a serial killer has been targeting teen girls around Savannah. But no one believes her. So she turns to the new paranormal detective agency and the sexy, mysterious Aidan for help.

But just as the two begin forging a relationship, the case turns eerily personal for Lexie--and Aidan discovers that maybe he hasn't lost the ability to feel after all...

*********************************************************************************************

I came across this book in a book fair it was very cheap and it was a super treasure to find because it was very interesting.

The theme is very criminalistic and paranormal to get my attention and it's very well done that I couldn't put it down and leaves me craving for more.

This book is the first one of a serie but it's pretty good, The second one is called Cold Touch and in this book have an excerpt on the end I think you will like.

The investigation is very interesting and what they discover bit by bit will have you enthralled and craving for the next page.

In the end of the book you discover some other truth above Aidan and you will love it it was the cherry on the top for the book really.

I hope you really like this book...

*********************************************************************************

*********************************************************************************

This book was a borrow trying to find some mystery novels and it was super cool.

The plot have mysteries, puzzles and nothing seems to be what it seems.

Zanny travels a lot with his dad and although she was accustomed to it, it was always hard to go to a new school and try not to make friends since you never knew when they will move again.

But when his dad seems to end bad and the police comes in and told you that nothing you believed is real, it cause kind of a shock.

Now Zanny will discover the truth he father leaved behind and will know why he always wanted to have the lowest profile of all...

I hope you enjoy the book as much as I did =)

*********************************************************************************

Inventando a Elliot

Inventing Elliot

Graham Gardner

*********************************************************************************

This particular book was recommended to me, because the person who borrow it thought that I would like it very much.

Now the theme that this book present it's a very likely one, because everyone have been there sometime in their lives, the story represent Elliot a boy that at his school suffer from bullying from other kids but he try to ignore all the pain.

After some time Elliot family moves and he will begin in a new school and thinks that maybe everything will be different, and it is, trying to keep a low profile so the same scenario doesn't come around he do something even worse than that because now they want him to become a bully, since it's seems he has all the qualities in the eyes of the mysterious Guardians of school that are the ones that set all the bullying in school based on a system of their own.

Now Elliot needs to make a decision be a bully or be a victim, and the way things get around will leave you cold...

I hope you like this book as much as I do, because it teaches us that sometimes we need to expand our horizons and not really be what society wants us to be we need to strike for individuality at all times and try to get the stigma out of our minds.

*********************************************************************************

Inventando a Elliot

Graham Gardner

**************************************************************************************

Sleeper Cell

Sleeper Cell

Jefrey Anderson M.D.

When people start dying of un-explainable symptoms in Los Angeles, the government turns to Biodefense, a top-secret agency against bio-terrorism. For the five members of the team, what they thought could never happen has come to pass: a nano technological weapon of mass destruction has been set loose. And one thing becomes all too clear to Biodefense's Alan Thorpe: the virus was developed and spread here--by a sleeper cell within our own borders--and no one knows how to stop it.

**************************************************************************************

This one I borrowed trying to find a good book to read that was interesting and different from the paranormal ones I usually read.

The incursion was an success, this book it's not only interesting but mind blowing.

The plot is medical almost too real and it is very well investigated, the author did his homework good.

The scenery that is portrait here is very possible in some sort of way, since it's a bio terrorism attack and those are not unreal, that we don't know about them it's pure contingency of our governments.

The author gave us a very deadly plague that could happen if someone with a lot of sick convictions or just for mistake could breach, the scary part is that we don't know anything about and doesn't know how to get rid of it and there comes the main problem and the main solution.

In the book the pentagon release a team that specifically works with this scenarios and they need to find a cure for this sickness.

I recommend this book for thriller fans it will not disappoint and you will have a good reading.

Hope you enjoy the book....

**************************************************************************************

First to Burn

                                  First to Burn

                                    (Immortal Vikings #1)

Anna Richland

A soldier with secrets

Immortal Viking Wulf Wardsen once battled alongside Beowulf, and now serves in Afghanistan. He's trusted the mortal men on his elite special operations team to protect his secret, until an explosion lands Wulf in a place more dangerous to him than a battlefield: a medevac helicopter.

A doctor with questions

Army captain Theresa Chiesa follows the rules and expects the same from others, even special forces hotshots like Sergeant Wardsen. She's determined to discover the secret behind his supernaturally fast healing, and she won't allow his sexy smile to distract her.

An enemy with nothing to lose

Even as Theresa's investigation threatens to expose him, Wulf is stirred by her passion. Dreaming of love and a normal life, he wants nothing more than to build a future with her. But the lost Viking relic needed to reverse his immortality is being hunted by another—an ancient enemy who won't hesitate to hurt Theresa to strike back at Wulf

*********************************************************************************************

I came across this one again by a R2R program in the Lovers of Paranormal group in goodreads, I remember watching the description of the book and a few words picked up my attention Beowulf and viking...

I love nordic and viking tales and obviously Beowulf if part of that world.

When I began to read it, it catched my attention that this soldier was so interesting and immersed in his secret I mean not everyday you come across an immortal with regenerative gifts and are aware of what is happening.

I really liked the heroine in this book because she isn't your typical damsel in distress, this one is a strong woman determined to do everything she can to get over any obstacle she have.

Now pair up these two characters, a little of a troop very loyal to their friend and you can wrap it up in this book, it was funny at times and serious in other ways, but a super great epic tale.

I find a lots of things I love in a book in this one, because it had a little drama, ¿who can live without a little angst in their life?, add a little romance and mmm you will like it even more and a little of suspense to get you at the edge to see what more can happen.

I really recommend it if you like epic, romance and some little tears here and there, it's a genuinely super good story.

*********************************************************************************************

The Children of Men

                                  The Children of Men

P.D. James

Told with P. D. James's trademark suspense, insightful characterization, and riveting storytelling, The Children of Men is a story of a world with no children and no future. The human race has become infertile, and the last generation to be born is now adult. Civilization itself is crumbling as suicide and despair become commonplace. Oxford historian Theodore Faron, apathetic toward a future without a future, spends most of his time reminiscing. Then he is approached by Julian, a bright, attractive woman who wants him to help get her an audience with his cousin, the powerful Warden of England. She and her band of unlikely revolutionaries may just awaken his desire to live . . . and they may also hold the key to survival for the human race.

*********************************************************************************

Well this one was borrow to me to check out this author and it really didn't disappoint, it a little heavy but it's very interesting, the plot is very rich and it will captivate you in a second.

I really like Dystopian genre in almost anything movies, books, games you name it I will usually like it, because of course I can't like everything in the world ajajaja.

This book was very dense in the aspect of the plot, just thinking about a world without children is a little scary since it can only mean one thing, our race is dying and it's not pretty to see all the reactions that could make.

In my opinion this book is very good, I would highly recommend it, apart from being a dystopian book is also a suspense one and you can only add hope to this book and it will have you wanting for more every page turn.

You need to have a little patience with this book at the beginning for the way is it written since the first thing you get will entries to a kind of diary Theo is writing but it will be very entertaining I promise.

You can buy this book in 3 formats Paperback, Kindle (E-book) and Audible, hope you enjoy the reading and you're welcome to put some comments after that =)

Hijos de los Hombres

P.D. James

Stone Guardian

Stone Guardian

Danielle Monsch

Gryphons flying past Skyscrapers? Wizards battling it out in coffeehouses? Women riding motorcycles with large swords strapped to their backs? All normal sights since the Great Collision happened twenty-six years ago.

Well, not normal for everyone. Larissa Miller may have been born after the Great Collision, but as a history teacher who lives in the human-only city, she has never come into contact with any other race or species. That is, until one day she walks out of her apartment only to be attacked by a mob of Zombies, but then is saved by a Gargoyle.

Leader of the Gargoyles, Terak has been watching over the human woman for months because of a cryptic prophecy. Gargoyles trust no one outside their Clan, but something about this woman stirs every protective instinct within him. When he realizes the danger to her is real, he refuses to allow her to explore this new world without him at her side.

In the course of their investigation Terak becomes entranced by his little human. But when he discovers why Necromancers want her and the great reward that awaits him if he betrays her, he must choose between the welfare of his Clan and not only Larissa’s life, but the fate of this new Realm as well.

*********************************************************************************************

This book is a paranormal book and it's pretty interesting since one of the protagonist is a gargoyle and that's a pretty good and neat change for the usual vampires and lycans books.

I remember reading this one as part of a R 2 R in a the group of Lovers of paranormal in goodreads and it was super cool, because it's a romance but the change of the species on the protagonist is very extraordinary, because usually in paranormal we are accustom to see vampires, lycans or mages more than anything in this genre, so putting a gargoyle first was awesome.

The book is only 266 pages so is not that long but it made a great first book for the series of Danielle Monsch that is titled "Entwined Realms" apart from this book there is an added scene companion called Stone embrace that is super short too only 58 pages, after that the series take another direction with The Cage King that is a short book with 223 pages but it's about Esh and Nalah, now it's not completely unrelated, it's just another part of the entwined realms and this one will like you too because again the protagonist it's not your typical  genre it's better than that and is cool that is not that conventional too.
After this 3 the next one is the rooftop that has only 15 pages and is about Fallon one of the guild members you come across the first books.

You can buy the 4 of them at amazon for $7.99 and read them all, I promise if you like romance and supernatural beings you will like this series.

Entwined Realm collection  just click here and it will take there =)

You can also follow the author at goodreads here: Goodreads Author

I hope you enjoy the reading...

********************************************************************************

Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark

by
Are you brave enough for Scary Stories?
Some boys and girls were at a party one night. There was a graveyard down the street, and they were talking about how scary it was.
"Don't ever stand on a grave after dark," one of the boys said. "The person inside will grab you."
"A grave doesn't scare me," said one of the girls. "I'll do it right now. . . ."

Welcome to the macabre world of Scary Stories, where folklorist Alvin Schwartz offers up the most alarming collection of horror, dark revenge, and supernatural events of all time. Here is a selection of extraordinarily chilling tales along with spine-tingling illustrations by renowned artist Brett Helquist.
********************************************************************************************
This one was a book reccomended by my boyfriend and it resulted to be very interesting, being an horror fan the stories in this compendium are so good and they are related like a manual book to tell scary stories to your friends, that is part of the charm.

It has too a chapter of funny stories that are awesome by themselves. In addition to that each chapter begins with a little poem and I find this very interesting since they are kinda of horror poems but they are in some kind a little funny.

I do recommend this book if you like short stories if you want to fright and to be amused at the same time.
It does have an audible counterpart for the ones who like to hear instead of reading, you can buy it or download it from almost all the internet.

If you prefer the hardcovers I would recommend Amazon and Barnes & Noble.

********************************************************************************************

From the Author
I'm a Hungarian born American writer, who was lucky enough to travel Europe, Africa, and The Middle East and live in Ecuador, Crete and Italy. I graduated as a computer engineer, thus if anybody tells you math and literature can't walk hand in hand, don't believe them. *smile* I'm the author of the Fields of Elysium saga, which I like to call a young adult romantic fantasy. The first book of the series was inspired by amazing movies like Dirty Dancing, Avatar, and Twilight and earned praise from prestigious review companies and readers. I'm currently working on book three and four, and planning to write one more novella to finish the series, dedicated to another very interesting character in my story, The Prophet, the mysterious leader of the Arkanians.
